No Coincidences

It was not a coincidence that you passed that test. You know the test. The one you didn’t spend any time studying for. Instead of taking out your books on the weekend before your exam, you decided to spend your time hanging out with friends, watching a movie, and just chilling.

It was not a coincidence that you were offered the job that you were not qualified for. You saw the job in the paper or someone mentioned to you that there was an opening, so you applied. When you read the description, you knew that you were missing some of the required years of experience or areas of expertise. Yet, there was something inside of you probing you to apply.

It was not a coincidence that your significant other asked you out on a date or accepted an offer from you. They knew the perfect moment to grab your attention, the perfect time to make their move. They knew just the right things to say to make you feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Whether it was one of these moments or not, there was most certainly that moment when something happened in your life that was amazing and completely out of your control. The moment when you received an answer or response that you didn’t expect. What was that moment for you?

It was not a coincidence that your life has taken the shape it has taken. God planned every moment of your life before you were even born. For Isaiah 49:1 tells us “…Before I was born the Lord called me; from my mother’s womb he has spoken my name.”

When is the last time you stopped to thank you for hand picking you? When is the last time you thanked God for developing your talents, skills, and gifts? When is the last time you thanked God for the many blessings that have been poured over and into you?

I challenge you today to take a moment, or as many as it takes, to celebrate the awesome God that we serve. Take time to celebrate the God who created you in His perfect image. Take time to thank Him for loving you and keeping a hedge of protection around you.

Please share with us: what is one thing you will thank God for?

As I spent some time reflecting on 2018, I specifically took time to reflect on my running journey.

It was such an amazing year. The highlights can be found on my running blog. In a nutshell, there were ups and downs. There were achievements and setbacks. But through it all, there was so many life-transforming moments. One specific date of reflection was October 30. It was a day of wounding, both physically and figuratively.

I had an evening event at work so I decided to start the day with a run. You know, I wanted to get my blood pumping early. The problem was that I waited late in the morning to start, so I decided to do a quick out and back 2-mile run. As I was nearing my finish, I was running at a pretty decent spe…
