Lions. Tigers. And bears. Oh my! Dorothy was faced with
quite a few unknowns back there on the yellow brick road. She didn’t know what
was coming up against her along her travels. As hard as the journey may have
been for her, she kept going. In spite of all the things, people, and
situations that tried to block Dorothy from getting back home, Dorothy endured
and made it all the way.
Have you ever had a moment where you feared the unknown? I certainly have! I found myself there recently. I was thinking about my career and the destination God has for me. I felt stumped. I felt anxious. It was one of those times in my life when I didn’t have an answer. I didn’t even have a glimpse of what was lurking around the corner for me. In that moment, I was filled with fear. I couldn’t shake the feeling off immediately. Something had a hold of me.

Then I heard a still small whisper. It was so clear. “Be
still and know that I am God.” I, immediately, took a deep breath and repeated
those words to myself. Then I felt free again. I felt free to live. I felt free
to embrace my current situation. I was able to rest in the hand of God. I don’t
know what the future holds for me, but I do know who holds my future.
I am reminded of Dorothy’s journey to find the Wizard of Oz.
I may not always know what deterring situations will come along my brick road
but I do know that I have a destination. I may not feel 100% equipped to fight
every battle that is lurking around the bin but I do know that my prayers and
determination will strengthen me when I am weak. I may not know all the “right”
people who will support me and help me navigate my way but I do know that God
is with me and will never leave me nor forsake me.
I am never alone and I have nothing to fear. God is
navigating my journey.
Can you walk confidently in your current situation of today
knowing that God is in total and complete control of your tomorrow?
