No Plan B

A new year, a new challenge, a new topic.

The political climate that is among us is wrought with pain from the senseless mass school shootings that are occurring.

It is time to speak up and speak out.

But before we can truly affect change, we must spend time researching the issues. We must know where we have been, understand where we are, and be willing to provide a solution to where we can go.

Several students came out to share their thoughts, concerns, and ideas.

And then it happened....

She won 1st place in the Oratorical Contest.

She did not win because her topic or ideas were unique.

I venture to say she won because of her poise and confidence.

This was her third year competing and yet, there was something different.

You see, from the day she decided to participate, she claimed a 1st place victory. She did not waiver in her desire. She did not waiver in her request. She did not waiver in her goal.

She put a demand on her expectation and she ditched her alternative thinking.

She finally understood that creating a plan B was not an option. Having a plan B is really a figment of the imagination.

It exists to give us a false sense of peace. It serves as another option. It allows us to have a defense mechanism to overcome the disappointments we are sure to face.

We need these things in our lives to help us endure the pain we think we feel when something does not go our way or the way we planned.

But there in lies the problem.

Life will not always turn out the way WE plan it.

Because it is NOT OUR plan.

We are meant to follow a path that has already been laid.

After all, in Jeremiah 1:5, God said, "Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you..."

God already knew everything about us. He already knew the purpose He would place on our lives. He already knew the opportunities we would have. He already knew the path we were destined to take.

When we deviate from that plan, we cause our own disappointments.

So let us stop deviating from the plan. Let us choose to follow the plan A that has been set for our lives.

Remember that NOTHING is impossible with God. Also, remember that there is POWER of life and death in your tongue. Choose today to walk in FAITH.

Allow the grace of God to cover you. Trust Him to move on your behalf. Trust Him to bring His promises to pass.

What Plan B have you developed that you are willing to lay down today?

  1. You CANNOT say you want to (Now You fill in the blank) and then say IMMEDIATELY have a exit strategy, it just doesn't work like that because you have taken yourself OUT of the Game. Change your Circle and You have to change your plan otherwise the circle will shut you OUT.

Great Job young Scholar and we look forward to hearing your voice on the Hill One Day because it is Coming, trust me it IS coming.

    1. So true! No double mindedness! Finding the right circle and the right accountability can go a long way with that!

Don't Harbor Unforgiveness

“ His mother left him and his father turned his back on him .” These words struck me like a bolt of lightening. They were words spoken directly to me. They depict a part of my life that I failed to acknowledge. A part of my life that I suppressed. A part of my life that I chose to ignore. Failure to acknowledge. Suppression. Ignoring. None of these things cause the past to flee. These things do not cause the past to change. Nor do they allow for full ability to walk into true purpose and authority. This is not an isolated story. With a human service and child welfare background, I know firsthand that this story is one in a million. But we also see it every day. If you're like me, you sometimes find your escape in movies and television series. Instead of spending time in your own realities, you spend time watching scripted realities. It's an opportunity to disengage ourselves from the characters on the screen. It's a way to passively accept or criticize the s
